Parmigiana cheese and parma ham

21 Oct

Friday we went on a cheese, ham and balsamic vinegar tour. We were driven by Vincenzo and our guide was David, both very nice. We learned the hard work involved in the production of these products. After lunch at a castle, we returned to our Apartment, shopped a little more and called it a night.

San Marino to Parma

21 Oct

Thursday we drove from San Marino to Parma, in the Emilia Romano Region. It was A three hour drive on the AutoStrada. After a bit of confusion And one way streets, we arrived at the apartment in parma, located in the old town. We unloaded, the luggage, somehow got them up 3 floors…i won’t mention any names, but some people are buying A lot…so suitcases are now heavier. The apartment is modernized with an ikea kitchen, but it has a spiral staircase to the second bedroom.
Some people rest, i go to the airport to return the car, bus back and then stroll the streets back to the apartment. Great dinner that night of pumpkin ravioli

To the country of San Marino

We had a long drive up over the mountains to the beautiful hillside country of San Marino. We visited the capital. It is a tax free country good for shopping. Even guns and ammo. Very touristy.

To the Seaside

19 Oct

Wednesday we set out for the Adriatic Sea and the city of Fano. It was about an hour away. We dipped our feet in and walked around the old town. Then we had a seafood feast at a nearby place. On the way back we went to two small villages famous for pottery. The GPS seems to be sending us on twisty turny dirt roads, but we finally made it back to the agriturismo, built a fire and snuggled in.

Market day and cooking class

19 Oct

Today was market day in Sant Angelo in Vado, a nearby village. There were many clothing stalls amongst the produce and fried fish. After that we ventured to Urbania but everything was closed.
We had to return to the farm for our cooking class at four. We had a good time cooking and eating!
